Time Team Introduction and  Building Construction techniques– ½ day

Help set the scene for the 'Dig' by learning all about the history and background of Hooke Court from its Saxon origins right up to today. Handle some of the 'Time Team' finds and play the 'Time Team Game' to see where and what the experts found. Learn about progress in building construction and design through the ages before working in teams to solve building problems using traditional techniques. Build a wall using wattle and daub and an arch strong enough to stand on.

Excavate the trench, clean and identify your finds– 1 day

Work in teams to excavate our 'Time Team' trench looking for any archaeological evidence. Scrub, clean and identify your finds and discuss their part in the story of Hooke Court.
