This programme will enable your children to learn about the Celts within our Ancient History Settlement. They will experience everyday life, including cooking, trades and pastimes.
Prepare and cook a simple meal. This will involve grinding cereals to make flour and bread, cutting up vegetables with appropriate tools as well as cooking fish in clay.
Use drop spindles to spin your own woollen thread and use this to weave a piece of fabric. Make and decorate clay beads for a necklace.
Build your own wattle fence enclosure. ‘Daub’ a wattle hurdle to weatherproof an early Saxon hut. Use Celtic tools to split wood.
Learn about the style of clothes and try some on. Use face paint to frighten the Roman Invaders.
Sit around the open fire and enjoy listening to stories as told by the Celts.
The Ancient Celts expressed themselves through their beautiful artworks. Learn about grinding pigments to create coloured paints and make brushes to then help decorate the walls of our roundhouse.
